Here's why I'm doing it.
Some of you know me already, but some of you don't — I'm the chair of Linkage's Strategic Advisory Committee, which means I'm one of the members helping steer where this organization goes next. It's a big commitment, and I took it on because I believe so strongly in what we're building.
I've been thinking a lot about what it means for Linkage to really be ours. We wanted to be independent from PCAP, and part of that is us helping fund our own organization. Outside donors matter, but it hits different when the money is coming from us too.
Most of us went to prison alone. We're not alone now. You know what Linkage has meant in your own life — otherwise you wouldn't still be around. That's the whole reason I'm asking.
On May 5, we're going to take what we raise together (my match included) and use it to challenge folks outside Linkage to match us back. I'd love for them to see that we showed up for ourselves first.
